I can't decide what to do with my '88 F250. I was trying to sell it for $1200 but I'm debating keeping it. It needs-
3 spring hangers on rear axle- both rears (and shackles) and the front left.
The carrier bearing bracket is rusted out and the bearing itself is shot.
The firewall is cracked where the clutch master cylinder bolts on (I have a 2x4 wedged between A/C bracket and its been working for a while
The drivers power window motor is out
Rear tank leaks and rear sending unit is out
The frame is still solid but the crossmember behind the rear tank is almost gone where it attaches to the left frame rail.
It's such a heavy duty truck I should really keep it and use it. And my friend just bought a 5th wheel trailer, this would pull it better than my F150.
I don't have much cash right now to get it on the road.
I will only have about $150 to spend in it for a while.
The front leaf spring hanger is actually broke, the rear one is cracked halfway thru. If I sell the suburban, then after paying a few bills I should be able to afford new hangers. Then I still have to wait to have them shipped (bronco graveyard has the cheapest ones I found) The '91 needs exhaust and balljoints on the right side.
Hard to say without actually seeing the truck close up. Depends on the area you live in many times you can buy one of these trucks in decent shape cheaper than you can fix up a badly run down one.
I just discovered yesterday my batteries are shot- and it starts hard even at 40F with new glows and controller. I'm thinking of running new power and ground wires to GPC.
If I sold it for $1200 and have a 6.2 parts truck and misc parts that I should be able to get $7-800 out of, that leaves me around $2K to play with. I found a really nice truck (93 reg cab 4x4) for $1700 but its an automatic, I'd rather have a 5 speed.
Theres a crew cab dually for 1500. No rust, needs paint. 1991 7.3 5 spd 2wd, I thought about that- I don't neccesarily need 4x4 since I have 2 4x4 F150s. Its a big rig, I do like it.
with a dully u got to buy more tires and other things ur truck might be hard to start cause ur battiers arnt geting enought juice to the gps y not just part oput all ur chevys gives u a bigger budget and 4x4 helps in the ice
We were never supposed to, but if you parked out back and did it they just kinda looked the other way. This year everything is strict and we have a dean of students who can be a horses a** if he wants to.
