Ok, so I've decided to use a '05 crown vic suspension under my 53 after finding a wrecked police cruiser in a local salvage yard. side impact so all parts are good. My question is: if I use a 460 engine, will I have clearance problems between the steering shaft and the headers? Anyone tried this?
I don’t know about the 460, but the ’05 would be a front cross member and lower strut rod transplant rather then a frame graft like a ‘02 and older, so your frame (34”) is still the width, and there a lots of 460’s in 53’s. If it’s just the steering shaft you are concerned about that is nothing that a couple hundred u joints won’t fix.
Here is a thread about the cross member transplant, not quite as easy as it sounds and it is too wide, so you will need special wheels.
Thanks OLDF1. The wide ride doesn't really concern me. I was planning on using 'stang gt or cobra style wheels anyway. I have been told they have a similar offset to the cv wheels.
Just wondering if there are any updates on this front suspension (02-07 crown vic) swap? Looks like wheel/tire combo will be an issue. I really like the potential however.

Nothing new that I can remember seeing ………(but that doesn’t mean much).
I think that this would fit into the “Don’t let fear stand in your way” category, do it!

Yep, I've been searching Craig List for a wrecked vic. Funny thing I saw a wrecked Vic police interceptor at a local salvage yard about three months ago but it's gone now.
