possible glow plug problems

my truck starts and runs great if it is above 70 degrees but if it sits enough to cool down it doesnt start for ****. it is a 2007 f250 6.0 whenever it is plugged in it starts great. would this be a glowplug problem if so how do i test it?

I would suspect injectors oil latching. I never really heard of any one having problems with glow plugs on these trucks. How does it run once it starts? Do you let it idle much? What type oil are you running? What are your service intervalls for oil and fuel filters? These trucks are picky when it comes that. Any ways a little more info will go a long ways in helping to get you a good answer

once it doest start after cranking and trying to start for a while it smokes and sputters for about 30 seconds then it clears up and runs great. i do alot of driving around town but somtimes my check engine light will go on if im towing downhill or somtimes just driving downhill for while. i live on the shore and when i drive inland its fine because its working alot but coming back its alot of idling. im running 15w40 and i change the oil and fuel filters every 2500 with mortorcraft filters

Do you have any way of reading the codes on the computer. Idleing is not very good for these trucks (stupid egr system). Do you ever get into it hard the turbo needs to be run hard now and again to clear it up.

First step would be to find out what the codes are. You can take it to autozone they will scan it for free. The only problems with that is there scanners are not very good so it may not pull up what you need. One option is if you can get auto enginuity with ford enhancements. That is a very powerfull obdII system for home use.
