i have a 390 2bbl in my '54 panel, found a leak at the carb to spacer gasket. replaced both spacer and carb gaskets now i have a bigger leak. i looked at the old gasket and it looked slightly different, the pic is the one i used (new one). on the back of the gasket where the tab is it dips down on both sides, now the carb is over hanging the gasket about 1/8" or 3/16" on both sides. is there different spacers vs. carbs?, do they need to be a matched set?
EDIT: i just found out that there's a difference in carb gaskets from '73-'75 and the older 2bbl carbs on ebay look more like the gasket i used. now i'm thinking i have a later model carb...........
ok i bought a '75 carb base gasket, it's about 3/16" thick vs the "sheet of paper" '68 one. it covers the rear of the carb and is thick enough to be un-supported.
