Just saw a Symbicort ad (some stuff that makes your lungs glow, I guess). It features an old bird polishing the most perfect '53 I've ever seen -- better than new! Gorgeous bed work, a paint job worth $20k at least. Check it out!

yeh.. have had a number of folks ask if that is my truck, the green).. but no..
its a stock 56.. (pretty nice if you like stock!)..
It's obviously trick photography-strings and mirrors.
I've seen the commercial and it's definately a beautiful truck.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the available of parts and aftermarket reproductions for the 56s such that you can build a NEW 56 Ford truck by assembling just parts?
The ad was in my wifes BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS....and I had to cut it out.....a beautiful stock 56 and with the white grille ....it is stock.....just the way I love em!!!!

Agreed, I wish they'd shown the interior!
Julie, I think you are probably right, about assembling one, but it would probably take more metalworking to make it all fit than it does to cherry out an original.
One of the magazines did a project build of a 56 with all new parts, no original parts used. Presently you would have to settle for a FG cab tho. No metal cab repros yet.

I thougt Ford built a pair of those in 2003(?) to celebrate the 100 year truck anniversary. If I recall they used Cobra engines from the Mustangs.

Did you notice the mirrors? the 6x6 rectangular mirrors on an extension arm, only they are painted cream instead of black.
By the way they have a shot of the interior in the very beginning of the ad and it looks stock.

on tv they did show most of the interior.. drivers door panel, the dash as seen from seat height from the passenger side, the seat. don't think you can see the headliner..
It's interesting that they blocked out the "Ford" stamping on the tailgate and that they put the "Custom Cab" emblem on the side of the hood instead of the stock F100 emblem. Looks of special lighting in that ad...made the ruck look a bit surrealistic.
I'm the owner of the 56. I just got a cold call from someone in the ad agency who had seen a picture of it. The truck is 100% stock. It was a great original I got in 1977. Still had the burlap bag with jack under the seat. The mirror is stock white. They took the emblems off and put the CC ones on the hood. Also put hubcaps and taillite lenses on without the Ford logo. The money was good since this hobby is mostly cash out as you know. Also fun watching them do it.
