tranny problems
I have a 1989 ford ranger 4x4 with a A4LD tranny , the problem is when i put it in gear it shifts very hard and the motor wants to die. Any suggestions

Your torque converter lockup is stuck on due to an internal fault in the trans. It can be electrical or a leak in the valve body, or the solenoid is stuck open. Your trans probably needs an overhaul, those solenoids most often fail from extreme overheating.
