im having trouble finding the warm up plug in . i traced it from above the oil pump and followed it all the way up to round the head lights where all the wires are all over the place . my question is can you remove the 3 prung plug in end ? cause i cant find it and its not behind the bumper
I don't know if all these trucks have the heater/plug in feature but it should be (looking at the front of truck) on the right under the hood a little below the battery tray (to the left of the right battery tray). It may have a boxy looking end on it an may be taped to some other wires. (I found one like that on a friends truck a few years ago).

Its not too uncommon to see them damages on the end and or find the pulg cut off or replaced with an aftermarket one, Ive seen several replaced with a segment of extension cord. It should originate behind your oild cooler by the filter, and follow the driver side frame rail. Also the were an option in the 97's so Ive been told but standard in94.5-96. And also the element and the cord are 2 seperate items as the element is the same for the 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4 IIRC, but the cord is different as based on the length needed to route it to the front. IIRC the elemnt is like $50 from ford, but the cord is like $110 for the OBS, hense the reason many people rewire it with a piece of entension cord.
Tim wired a female plug into the bumper on the trim piece.
You just plug the end of the cord right in.
I rember seeing that, looked real good factory look like you find on a semi tractor, Gives me an idea I can probably get a handful of those from the truck scrap yard out here in chrome to match, wire one on each end of the truck so no matter which way im facing in the drive way I can still plug it in w/o dragging out so much cord.
