So I'm trying to buy this truck from a guy i found on craigslist, its a 79 f250 2wd with the 351w and c6 auto. so i drive 70 miles to test drive this truck, it has some brake issues and some other issues. thats all fine and dandy, the cab is in excellent shape for a northern wisconsin truck. the problem is we ran it out of gas and then we absolutely could not get it running again! the guy even put a helper electronic fuel pump on the line and nothing, we tried bleeding air bubbles and i even bought a new fuel pump for it. nothing,. we even blew air into the tank to try to push the gas into the system which worked but every time we got it to run, it was only for a few minutes. then for some odd reason it took off with the help from the helper pump which we disconnected power to once we got it running. we then left it running for about 15 minutes. I then took it for one last test drive to make sure i thought it would make it the 70 miles back home and it died on my drive. what the heck is going on?? i just wanna get it home and figure out what the deal is. its a project truck that im getting for next to nothing so im not too worried about it not running, id just like to know what to watch out for. thanks!!
