Fellas 2004 F250 SD Diesel, I have a creak in my steering, sounds like the door on a haunted house. is coming from the area inside of the driver side front tire, looks like it is where the shaft from the steering wheel comes down, Is it the "U": joint??? If so can it be greased or lubed, or not...or is it somewhere else????
I have a 2004 F 250 SD 5.4. Had the same problem. It turned iut to be the ball joints ,as they have no grease fiittings. I had the truck jacked up and the ball joints have NO PLAY in them. They just dry out . Hope this helps
Sounds to me like them pesky ford ball joints. ball joints do not have grease fittings. When the grease dries they squeak and sometimes very loudly. I had the same problem, I just replaced all ball joints with the serviceable kind from Car Quest.
How easy are the ball joints to replace? I'm embarrassed to say i've never done any suspension work on my truck. New hub assembly was the most i've done on it. What tools, would i need? Thanks
