I am putting a msd pro billet dist and the 6 box. (74 ford 390) Everything is pretty much straight forward EXCEPT, someone ran the dist without the magnetic pick up. I am putting a new plug on it and using the pickup. Problem is on the distributor the 2 wires coming off it are black and orange...And black and violet does anyone know witch plugs into the green, and witch one plugs into the violet of the box?? I didn't see anything on the msd site, it just shows the magnetic pick up plugged in and shows the green and the violet wire, but says nothing of the colors of the 2 wires on the distributor thanx in advance

 

What dist are you using? The MSD unit or the Ford unit? The distributor will run the engine without the magnetic pickup inside it?

 

thanx I got it figured out. I'm running the msd pro billet distributor and 6 a box. It doesn't have the vac advance, but I got both of them for 100 off craigslist
