Hey fellas, well i am done with the truck for now, knock on wood. Leaky o rings was the last of the issues. I noticed that when they got the new engine in though, the shifting changed. It seems to rev way higher than it used to. It isnt any harder or bad, just way later. It will shift itself down into second at odd speeds too, not normal. Was my truck prior to new engine acting crappy and i got used to it? Is this normal. I wish i had a tach so i could tell you how much more. Is there a way to roll the vacuum module with the adjustable holes for positioning forward or backwards to adjust the shifting time? Thanks
WB
yeah thats great, i will check on the lines from the trans to make sure they are good then start tweakin the regulator valve! Thanks and check my other post on the "what to do with my old engine."
Awesome, shifting like a champ now, took a few adjustments and as i looked at the records, it had a E4OD in it so i guess the shifting pattern was different? Not sure but i know it is working now! Thanks David
The E4OD uses a completely different sensor, but it is located in the same place and adjusted the exact same way as the VRV for the C6. As you can now see, its really easy to "tweak" it to your liking.

So if you made such an adjustment on an E4OD truck, how would the overall shift pattern or RPM be affected since the shifting occurs differently depending on how hard you get on the fuel? During relaxed driving mine seems to shift around 17-1800 but when I need to "go" it waits till 2200+ RPM and almost feels like it "hangs" there for 2-3 secs.
Sounds like you have a bone stock E4OD. The C6s were designed to shift crisp, while the E4ODs were intended to shift smooth and glide from one gear to the next for better comfort. Mine was never stock though, so I can't be sure if 3 second delay is normal at high throttle upshifting. I think that might be a little excessive.
The answer to your question is the shifting would happen later and firmer than before if you make the adjustment that wreckinball made.
The E4OD TPS signal should be around 0.8-1.2V at idle and 4.0-4.5V at full power. Anywhere inside that range should be safe. Probe the center wire for the reference voltage and ground the other lead of your volt meter to get the reading so you can make the adjustement.
If you don't have a volt meter, then at the very least, scribe a mark on the injector pump case so you can move the sensor back if your changes don't work well.
Here is more reading on how to adjust the VRV for the C6 tranny or the TPS for the E4OD transmission (near bottom of page).
Works like a champ! I love the fact that i can ramp it up for hauling and keep it smooth as silk for cruising around. It is a very crisp shift for sure but it is a lot less harsh when adjusted properly.
