All OBD-II "tuner" devices have the ability to read and clear codes to a certain extent. If you want to be able to read and clear all codes then you are actually going to have to get professional scanning software such as AutoEnginuity with the Ford bundle. You have to get the ford bundle in order to even read diesels as they are not OBD-II complaint, now the 6.4s are, but not the 6.0s. Superchips, SCT etc all pale in comparision to what you can do with our trucks with the AE software.

Tex,
Are you saying the Check codes and clear codes the SCT allows us to do does not show ALL the codes ?!?!

or are you saying you can adjust more parameters with the AE ? Safely ?

Tanks in advance

either way, I'd be interested in knowing which codes it won't show/clear ...
(since this is the first mention I've seen of the sct's not showing all codes....)

Yes we have 9 different modules and it only pulls from general powertrain and a little from the enhanced powertrain(this depends on the tuner you have, some are better at this module then others).

You can't change shift points, but you can disable belt minder, running buzz tests, change the odometer for bigger tires(up to 40", most dealerships can only do 37" I believe) and stuff along those lines. This is more of a troubleshooting type of software.

This isn't the first time that this has been mentioned and it's really not new knowledge either.

At best what you would get from the SCT is the generic codes and you won't can't the more specific code that usually shows up with it. I know when I had my 4x4 code and I hooked up the SCT, it didn't show the GEM Not Programmed code while the autoenginuity did and was able to correct it(not all modules it can program, but that was one that it could).

I have a 07 F-250 with the 6.0 .I use the hypertech max energy tuner. Increased fuel mileage and more power--under $300 and easy to use

I've been using the Edge Evolution Performance Programmer for the past year with no issues. I have run it at all the performance levels nothing gets to hot "unless you just keep it floored.." I like that you can display 4 sensor data streams at a time. Also it comes with a EGT probe. I like that it monitors a lot and you can set up warnings to notify you of a potential problem. They are going for about 430 these days.

Just my thoughts, and yes I know a lot of people here say bad things about it..

You can get it directly from AutoEnginuity(which I did) or you can get it thru a couple of vendors(I don't know specifically which one, but there are a couple that have gotten them from seperate vendors).

AE does price fix them, but you might be able to get a discount at the individual re-seller. I think the AE software with Ford Bundle packaged as one unit is 370.00 or something like that. I have 4 enhancement licenses so I can't remember exactly what that one packaged with the ford bundle goes for.

Well you know how it goes, threads get sidetracked. Doesn't bother me, although it does bother some and I can understand. Now rather or not I agree with it will depend on the situation.

what i will say about the evolution programmer is that it has trans tuning which helps. the other edge products do not have trans tuning that i know of.

with both the edge and the hypertech, most other "tuners" and even the 10k mod devices sold on ebay for cheap you will notice more horsepower. but for the price you will not compare to a sct with custom tunes. it just plain does a better all around job of tuning the pcm and the tcm. offers alot of options for trans only tuning, mild gains, towing, turbo braking, and higher hp tunes. with custom tunes if you delete the egr it can be tuned out. also with custom tunes you can have your tuning taylored to your liking. there are alot of different companies currently tuning for these devices so the options are limitless. they will support larger injectors, turbos and the like offereing upgradeability to the performance minded user all the way to the person that just wants a little additional "safe" boost in horsepower or better towing performance.
