help
restoring a 72 f-100 its suppose to have a 390... the only numbers i can find on the block are 53/352a behind flywheel and 48d1f front left which i think are just mold numbers? intake #d3te9425a1a..have to check crank??

You can try the wire down the plug hole check, mark at TDC and BDC and measure. 3.5 = 352 or 360 (360 would be OEM, a 352 would have been an older engine transplanted). 3 3/4 = 390.
The engines--360 & 390 for that year--are identical externally. That is probably true for all years of production as well.
Is it a runner? Are you going to rebuild it?

PULL#1 Plug & #4 putting #1 @TDC #4 WILL BE @Bottom put a rod or wood dow 1/4"or less works good, make a mark at the v-cover edge then move to #4 do the same way then measure mark to mark= stroke size,
