hey!
as some of you know my old ford (1990 f150) got stolen and i bought an Isuzu...
build here for anyone interested PROJECT: The Fat Lady
i am still slowly plugging away on my 77, but nothing really worth update. just suspension stuff, welding, grinding.
you know the deal
well anyways, top end went out in the trooper and i need something to drive. preferably 79 or olders so i can plate it as antique.
not very picky at all... but heres the catch, under $1000
anyone know of anything?
besides that, whats all you old timers working on these day? how are the projects comming along? show me some photos; i havent looked at any old fords in too long
i havent done much, i finally got around to runnin out to the farm to get the new window for my 4x4, since it started snowing i better get it in! also waiting for my dad to clean out his garage so i can lift the new ford a couple of inch's, and i'll beat on my short box one last winter and in the spring go grab the replacement cab for it from the farm and if i can save up enough coin, purchase a new stepside box for it!
The zoo is very impressive. Made it into/out of some places around the farm my 78 couldnt.
Whenever I blow my ifs up I would like to do a narrowed dana 60 solid axle swap with a 3 link and coilovers. Followed by a spring over rear with longer leafs and run a 36" tire But its suppose to be my DD and my 1977 is my offroad project lol
Engine wise.... well the head is at my work right now getting ported, polished, oversized valves, new springs, and decked 10 thou.
Planning on rebuiling a spare 2.6 from my parts trooper this winter, with a cam, header, re-chipped ecm, and maybe 40 or so over pistons. Playing around with the idea of a small/medium sized turbo. My current head will go on it.
Thats when I have more time/money.
What did you get for a new rig Kirk? How high you going? Come Jan. SGI is bringing a **** storm down on us lifted folk..
I been keeping an eye on kijiji, but with some of the trucks that are on there it looks like I might get issued an inspection ticket when I pull out of my drive way!
Definately not looking, or expecting anything perfect but when you can see East to West and there is a truck infront of you; there is rust a problem.

gvwr restriced by tire size. so if you have an f-350 on 37's you can only LEGALLY tow the same amount as a jeep cherokee(example)
among many other things.
i do not completely agree with the new policy because some things are bogus, but its a good way to keep the scary stuff off the road.
however, the way they have the policy it will not only effect trucks. if you have larger winter tires on your car, its classified as a "lifted vehicle" because SGI has yet to come up with an actual definition of a lifted vehicle.
SGI Proposal - Raised Vehicled Policy Revisions
i also may not be allowed to drive my truck because the are considering a class 5 restriction without a novice 1 or 2

1978 f150 s/cab long box. 300 i-6 4 speed 2wd.
guy wants $500
the only problem with it is that it was pulled over and given a fix it ticket for horn, mudflaps(which is stupid because the body hang meet requirements) a rear axle leak on the drivers side and rusty cross supports under the box.
the horn is already fixed. it would take me a weekend to go through it all, take the box off patch it put it back on and fix the rear axle wether its a seal or the brake. but once its done does it have to go through a full inspection? how is it delt with?
Also as far as I know, if you get one of those inspections that say you just have to fix a few specific things, thats all you show them you fixed. Least thats how it used to be (I had to get lots of loud mufflers changed and reinspected at the police station in nipawin back in the day!)
