You are correct, no electronics, but I think you missed that he has a diesel. The diesel has it's own bolt pattern on the bellhousing, and it has a special variable vacuum switch on the throttle to control the c6, but since he is swapping one out of another diesel, there should be no problems at all. My 89 has a 7.3 diesel with a c6, and it would fit too.

I have an 87 6.9 diesel engine and C6 trans in my 84 F250, dropped her in myself... no mods needed! No difference on the 6.9/7.3 C6 transmissions, they were all the same.
