99 f250 superduty4x4/ HELP!!!!!! DRIVE SHAFT/HUBS
I put new ball joints on the driver side saturday, pulled axel/spindle out to remove ?spindle? to get ball joints out. I put it back together and when my hub( lock-auto) is out it doesnt turn my front drive shaft, when its in, it does turn it. I drove the truck 5 ft to see if u joints were turning at the wheel, and driver side turned, pass didnt. When i jack the pass side up, a sec ago it turned my drive shaft and then i took my hub lock off and put it back on and now it doesnt. Im loosing my f#!#!n mind! Nobody at ford can give me an answer, and all these parts store seem like they just started working on cars and everyone of em have a different answer. Im lost and really need an answer, bc my ujoints are going out on my drive shaft and dont need the drive shaft spinning unless "I" engage it. Before I did all of this, i had some tranny work done, theyre the people that said the u joints were bad. We watched the drive shaft while moving and it wasnt turning, so Im thinking theres a prob now that I changed those? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm not completely following what's going on here but lets start with the basics:
If you have ESOF did you change your axle seals? If your ESOF is not locking the hubs in it sounds like you have a vacuum leak in the hub area/ vacuum setup
When you resinstalled the hubs, did you make sure your thrust washer/ nylon plate assembly were correct? Most importantly did the snap rings sit in their channels as they are supposed too? If not your axles may not be installed correctly and you could end up with a problem similar to my axle going boom.
If the twist locks are not working, have you checked the hub is properly lubricated? I've experienced lots of grief with the stock ford hubs, and its all directly related to how well these mechanisms are maintained.
Please verify all of the above, then let us know so we can get 4 wheels functional soon!

Thanks a mill! I took the hubs off and played with them a bit, and found that one of them wouldnt spin free inside the hub. I took it apart and put it back together and seems to be moving free now? Its not turning the drive shaft now! Are the hubs known for going bad? ford wants 300 for a new one!

I picked up my Warns for $60 for the pair off ebay and I didn't have an issue until my front end made the big boom boom and the plastic selector in the warn hub caught fire. I don;t think that was a hub problem so I stand behind the warns 100%
