Sorry but i gotta make this quick I'm late for an exam. Truck wont start this morning. always started great since new gllow pllugs and relay last year along with replaced UVC harnesses. IDM has been modded but worked for 5k miles. 215k miles, running on a 50/50 bio mix, fuel in bowl was not gelled, about 45 degrees outside (our bio gels at 25). Amount of white smoke out exhaust is what you would expect without starting. Waited 10 seconds after the WTS light, no luck. Waited 30, then a minute, then 2 minutes, nothing worked. RPM while cranking was usually around 100-150 RPM (which I thought might be a little low) but it was definately not at 0 so I dont think it was the CPS. Any thoughts are great. Thanks alot......ohh and only mods are intake, exhaust, 10 k mod and EOT mod. ( usually left at 15.6k ICP and 4.7 EOT)
Take a screwdriver and jump the two large terminals on the glow plug relay for about 30 seconds then try to start. Also check the under hood fuses, no. 22, although with the white smoke it sounds like you are getting fuel.
That was my next move. Woulda tried it this morning but the batteries were low after cranking for so long and I was running outta time. I was hoping maybe I could think of a good excuse to use this as an opportunity to rebuild my injectors and turn em up a lil. But i dont think my dad will fall for it.
Check your underhood fuse block, not sure of the exact number but the fuel bowl heating element shares a fuse with the PCM. The elements often start to go, and when they get bad they will blow the fuse and thus shut down the truck. Not sure if mine registered RPM's starting when this happened, but the truck will turn over and never start (cause the PCM isnt getting power). Solution: disconnect the element at the bottom of the fuel bowl on driver side, replace large fuse and off you go.
Well when i got home it wouldnt start still so i jumped the relay and it started right up. Replaced it with one from NAPA and it runs good now, but the real test will be in the morning. Thanks for the help guys, if it doesnt start in the morning ill be back.
