Starting issues after changing fuel gauge float

Did you check the vacuum hose on the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) to see if thewr was any fuel in it. If there was it is bad.
If both tanks are giving 34 PSI with pin #6 grounded and the key on I would change the FPR anyway.
