2003 F250 "stumbles" while pulling grade?
Truck purchased new May 2003, flashed in May 2007, 50K miles. Runs like a champ unladen, and mostly does fine when pulling, but...when loaded with cabover camper and trailer and pulling a hill it intermitantly "stumbles" and it sounds like hollow ductwork under the hood is flapping? When it happens power is greatly reduced, I take my foot off the go pedal, the tranny will usually downshift a gear, I hit the fuel again and it's all good. I thought it could be because of the Superchips program, so I removed it, but this past fall it did it again. I get no lights, bells, or whistles, and it doesn't matter if I'm in tow mode or not. I've checked and tightened every fastener I can get to, with nothing obviously loose. I almost hate to take it in since it does fine the majority of the time, but it really bugs me to know something's not right with it, and could lead to a serious breakdown in a remote place.
Your thoughts?
