Where do i go next?

I have a 1996 f150 4.9L truck. it has ignition problems, where it will crank and crank but wont turn over only sometimes. Other times itll start right up....it has no spark when it doesnt start. It seems to be like the fuel pump kicks on if i leave the key turned then it starts right up, but it DEFINATELY has no spark. Also, i was testing power to the coil...had someone try turning it over....when they let go of the key it started sparking and i got bit...lol. here is what ive done to it, auto parts store loves me

ICM
PCM
full tune up
FPR
new distributor (pip sensor included)
all new relays
new ground cable from battery since the old one snapped in my hand
checked the ignition switch (no high resistance)

Thats all i can think of atm, if i remember more ill post....Im thinking maybe a wire shorting to ground somewhere? Help! lol

It means sometimes it turns over but doesnt start. Its an intermittent problem (happens alot but never at a certain time like morning night etc)

you checked the ignition switch resistance...hmm. im thinking i would replace that as well. its only a few more bucks and that is exactly what the problem was with the last guy who had that problem of intermittent no starts.

Maybe its an intermittant coil. Thats an inexpensive part and maybe worth replacing.

I was reading something, can a bad ignition switch really cause the radio to cut out when you hit a bump?

Also i forgot to mention if you leave the key to the on position, you can hear the pump kick on/off/on/off....but it aint the pump cause it does it on both tanks

When you turn the key to on, the pump is supposed to run for a second or two and then stop until the truck is running. Maybe there is something wrong with the fuel pump or a wiring/connection issue.

Well theres no spark, and the pump does turn on/kick off when i first turn the key.....however like i said after a bit of sitting there the pump will kick on and off....also when it does that the check engine light goes out when pump turns on, and comes back when pump turns off.

Weird huh? Possible ignition switch?

Google shows that code to be: Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction

Seems the same information is found within this forum as well. So that should be it

Well, what im saying BOTH the distributor and crankshaft sensor is brand new, engine speed=crank sensor i believe.....maybe ill tell the auto parts store the dist was defective and try to eliminate that? lol

I also forgot to mention the truck stalls sometimes, also sometimes it shakes likes its gonna shut off...anyone ever stalled a standard knows what i mean...then itll catch itself...thats when it threw the code

If you have electrical components turning on and off when you hit a bump you probably have an ignition switch problem, change it out they don't last forever.
