Charging system problems on a 1962 F-100

Recently tested my 30 amp generator and voltage regulator on the truck and the generator light will always stay on. Everything checked out okay but still no charge to the battery. Pulled the cover off of the regulator and the cut-out point will never close unless I lightly tap it and then it stays closed until I tap it back up. Everything is polarized properly. This happened after I tuned up my ignition system and installed the 40,000 volt msd blaster coil so maybe that could be the cause? Thought it was an worn out wire but the meter was saying there was power at all terminals. Any thoughts?
