First thing, do not let the box stores that have a scanner and dont know how to use it clear your codes, or shut off light, lean codes could be a missfire, should of had a specific bank #, or with a erratic idle it could be a TPS or IAC problem, maybe something simple like cleaning the MAF.
I did not get the specific code #. What does TPS or IAC stand for? Also what does MAF stand for? ALso today at the stop light, my truck cut off on me. It reved a lot and then cut off while the battery lgiht flashed. Do you know what this means?
TPS - Throttle Position Sensor
IAC - Idle Air Control (valve)
MAF - Mass Air Flow (sensor)
PVC - Positive Crankcase Ventilation (valve)
The lean condition is telling you that have a vacuum leak. A vacuum leak can also cause reving and stalling, as can the IAC. I would first check the PVC hose at the top rear of the engine for cracks. This is a well know vacuum leak point.
we put seaform and use a carbon cleaner and I still have the reving and stalling problems. The truck cut off on me 3 times already even when I am backing up...ANy more suggestions?
Theoretically, it sounds like you need to Clean and/or replace the IAC. Stalling at stoplights, this is the likely culprit, but you should do as others have stated and get the EXACT code pulled. Also, change the Fuel Filter, if it hasn't been done in about 15,000 miles. Don't let the guys at Advance Troubleshoot it for you. They'll just throw parts at it or tell you to buy a $10.00 can of SeaFoam again and again.
