Unhappy Pulley Problem

As my user name indicates, I have a 1966 Ford F100 with a 240 CID in-line 6 cylinder engine. I am currently in the process of restoring this truck to near stock condition as a nice daily driver. In conjunction with this process, I decided to replace virtually all of the cooling system components, including the water pump, radiator, heater core, thermostat, and all of the associated hoses.

Not knowing the complete history of this truck when I bought it, I assumed that pretty much everything under the hood was stock since nothing appeared otherwise. However, I have since learned that sometime in the past the stock Ford radiator had been replaced with a narrower Chrysler radiator (which happened to have the same mounting dimensions) and a water pump from a later model 300 CID engine (casting #D2TE-8505AA) with a longer snout than the stock water pump for the 240 CID had also been installed. In addition, the existing water pump pulley had three grooves and fit well on the old water pump, but it won't work with the shorter snout on the new one since it is too deep. And even if the existing pulley did fit on the new water pump, there is a very good chance the fan (once installed) would be an inch deep in the much wider stock radiator I just bought. So, it has occurred to me that I am missing the stock single groove pulley needed to make everything work. The problem is I that have no idea what part number I am looking for and where I might be able to get one of these pulleys. I have searched several sites specializing in older ford truck parts to no avail. So, any help here would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Just so everything is clear, this is a very basic 240 CID truck. No power steering, air pump, or A/C. There is only one V-belt that drives the alternator and water pump from the crankshaft. So, a single groove pulley that will directly bolt to the stock water pump and has a flat face that will mate with the stock fan spacer is all I need.

So digging in the parts manual, I see a single sheave pulley for the water pump on a 240/300 used on the 65 model with a 6 63/64" diameter as a C5AZ 5809-A. In 66, the 240 and 300 shared the same 3 sheave pulley.

Welcome to FTE

7 hours ago, I had a post all typed up with the waterpump and pulley info.

At that time, FTE chose to do a backup. I got the this page cannot be displayed jazz, so...the entire post went poof!

D2TE-8505-AA = D2TZ8501A .. Waterpump.

Fits: 1972/74 F500/750 300 H/D I-6.
------------------------------------
In 1975, Ford replaced D2TZ8501A with D5TZ8501C.

D5TZ8501C also replaced: C5AZ8501A, C5AZ8501E, D1TZ8501A, D2AZ8501A.

So...this waterpump fits ALL 1965/74 240 I-6 / ALL 1965/79 300 L/D and H/D I-6's.

It prolly fits later 300's also, but I didn't look in the 1980 and later parts catalogs, because it's not relevant.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following is the only single sheave waterpump pulley listed in the 1964/72 & 1973/79 Ford Truck (1965/72 Ford Passenger Car) Parts Catalogs till 1977.

C5AZ8509A .. Single Sheave Waterpump Pulley / 6 63/64" O/A diameter / Marked: C5UE-A

Fits: ALL 1965/74 240 I-6 // ALL 1965/76 300 L/D and H/D I-6.

PEROGIE ENTERPRISES in Highstown NJ has ONE = 609-448-1684.

No Ford Dealer, no other obsolete parts vendor has any.

Mark and Bill - Thank you both for your help. I called Perogies and they're shipping me this pulley Monday. And Mark, just for the sake of clarity, you did mean "C5AZ 8509-A", not C5AZ 5809-A, right?

I'm sure he did, since there's no such thing as C5AZ-5809-A.

Cooling related parts are in group 8000 in every Ford car/truck parts catalog since 1906.

5809, if there was such a thing, would be related to rear suspension parts in group 5000.

Mark is using the same truck parts catalog on a CD as I am.

And it is the same CD, because I loaned Mark my CD to download into his computer.

You can have one, too: The 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for $22.00.

Thanks for the follow-up, Bill. I will be ordering that parts catalog CD ASAP. Looks like it would come in real handy for restoration projects such as mine. Again, I greatly appreciate the help.
