We are planning on putting a Ford-O-Matic in a 1964 W/292 engine. The question is did any Ford car have a similar gear shift lineage to fit in. We have the trans but no lineage from trans to lever for shifting. I hope I have explained this properly. I think trying to find a 64 truck lineage is like finding a needle in a haystack. Thanks for any help. Joe

Car parts are not the same.
No 1961/64 F100/250 with a 292 used a Ford-O-Matic transmission.
Finding linkage that will work with a F-O-M will be rather difficult...to say the least, because..
These trucks came with Cruise-O-Matic.
The only 1961/64 trucks to use Ford-O-Matic were 1961 F100's with the 223 I-6.
Thanks Guys for the answers. What if we put a cruise-o-matic in the 64 F100, is there any car of those years that would use the same shift lever and shaft on the column with the shift pattern dial ? Ford dealer parts books we have only go from 49 till 59 so have nothing to go by. Thanks for any help. Joe

Car Parts are not the same!
The column is different: shift lever is different, shift collar is different, shift tube is different, manual control selector lever is different, the whole tamale is different.
You will need a Cruise-O from a 1961/64 F100/250 292, because the output shaft, extension housing, and how the trans is mounted is not the same as a car.
Cars have the rear engine (trans) mount located on the extension housing, trucks do not. The cars extension housing/output shaft are a different length.
