What is up with this death wobble? I have a stock 2004 F350 2wd duallly that has what I have been calling a death wobble and now I see posts about this. What is the solution?
Greg
Most of the post you see about death wobble are for the 05-07 models. However it can happen to just about any SD. First of all what exatly happens when you have the problem? Does it happen loaded or unloaded? Does it only happen on certain roads? Is your truck lifted or modified in any other way?
I need new tires and want to fit Michelin XPS - Rib 235x85x16 and want to know if they will fit? Also, will the truck drive harsher? The other choice is the Michelin Pilot LTX-MS2. Which tire will work best for towing a 40' trailer and I really do not care about mileage nor rain/snow.fficeffice" /><O></O>
So far, what people have been calling "death wobble" applies only to the new suspension that came out in 2005, and even that didn't apply to 2WD because their front suspension was not upgraded. Given that you don't really match any of the criteria, your problem is just worn components, anything from ball joints to power steering. Need to give more details, including gas vs. diesel.
My 2000 5.4 SC SB had a "death wobble" so bad it ripped the steering from my hands. I had 150K on it. Turns out I had a right front caliper frozen up so, I put on a new caliper and while I was at it I put on new Motorcraft (OEM) shocks. Cured everything. Should have put shocks on a long time ago, What a difference!
