Muffler Update questions

Hey all I had spoke to a rep at Flowmaster about a cat back for a v10 Excursion. They suggested 3'in/Out big block 50 or 70 series. DO you guys know if there is one that is a easy swap out without taking it to an exhaust shop?

Thanks

Flow Master? There are kits out there from Borla, Banks, Dynamax, etc. that are bolt on.

unless you want dual exhaust (sounds like you are just keeping the single exhaust pipe) then buy a muffler and weld/clamp it in place. retaining the factory pipe with the use of like 10 inches of filler pipe to make up for the small muffler.

the factory pipe should be 3 inches already, so just buy a muffler and save some cash.

Ditto on what rebel says.

I also spoke with FM recently about the same thing. They used to have the kit a few years ago but no longer carry it. But I guess you probably knew that.

Depending on how good you are with tools & a welder, the F-250 kit might fit with some minor mods for gas tank clearance and more length in front of the muffler. The 50 & 70 are both relatively mild. The 50 is 18" long and the 70 is 22". I believe the F-250 kit fits a 133" WB CC while the Excursion has a 137.1" WB.

I am ordering my FM 70 BB II tomorrow, 3" offset/offset part # 53073. To save a little money I am going to use the stock tail pipe that is 3" with mandrel bends. A friend is going to weld it for me. $113 for the muffler, free shipping to lower 48. You can get a decent stainless tip as well for about $40 and your rusty tailpipe will be neatly tucked away under the quarter panel. $153 for a new exhaust and I get to get my hands dirty!
