Ok so here is the thing... I bought a truck the tranny went out so I got a rebuilt one with a warranty. We relpaced it and now the new one is not working either. It is not doing anything. We manualy put it into gear on the tranny and it does nothing. We are completely stumped on this. I called the place I got the tranny from and he said I needed to check the hydraulic pump pressure. Can anyone tell me how I do that? Anyone have any suggestions?
Oh this is in a 1992 F250 7.3L 4x4 extended cab. Its on 40" Iroks! (not sure if that helps at all)
How much fluid did you put in? The E4OD takes about 16qts.
If you put it in Park can you push the truck back and forwards? If so then either the transfer case is in neutral or is faulty or the rear axle is bad.
To check the pump start the truck, pull the trans dipstick, clean it, replace it, pull it again and note exactly where the fluid level is. Now shutoff the engine and dip the trans again. If the fluid level is now higher then the pump is working. If the same then it is not working.
On the E4OD, the tranny can be perfect, but a sensor or control can be bad and the tranny doesn't work. The MLPS is a possibility if the tranny does nothing at all.
Good Luck Frank
