TPS: can this thing be week, the truck runs great, but has spark knock,(I have been through ALLLL the other stuff involved with spark knock) I read on the Fuel Injection site that the TPS Sensor can affect timing, sluggish, poor milage etc...
Fuel Pressure Regulator: can this be week, maybe not allowing enough fuel pressure when accelerating causing spark knock.
The premium fuel accually helps with the spark knock but does not eliminate it. The truck idles great, runs great but sluggish on acceleration and has spark knock. The timig and all the other stuff is fine, I just dont wanna buy parts that are not needed. I will replace both if needed.
Why not run a self-test and see what the codes say.
I take you have an OBD I Computer system.
Do the KOEO, read the CM's and the KOER test.
Then you will know what parts to test and replace or adjust.
The truck idles great, runs great but sluggish on acceleration and has spark knock.
If the computer senses spark knock, it might be retarding the timing to clear it up, thus causing the sluggish acceleration. Do these engines have knock sensors?
Conanski, thats greek to me, the air system and all the smog stuff is still there and in tact, How would I test this, the plugs look fine, I would think they could be a little darker. I am going to pull a couple today and look. The truck idles perfect so there is no miss or anything. What other symptoms can the TPS cause, the fuel injection site says it can affect timing and such
Do you have two fuel tanks?
If so does it do this on both tanks?
Put a fuel pressure gauge on it and mount it where you can see it and take it for a drive.
Watch the gauge as you drive, does it go to 40-42 PSI (if you have an 8) at full throttle?
