radiator choice
I have a high performance 300 with the old 390 radiator still in it. Currently I am using two Toyota
blower fans, but they only cool about 1/3 of the area. Also, they don't leave room for my trans cooler.I was at the junkyard and noticed a radiator and fan set-up on a Grand Marquis with a v8 that looked really nice, with a 2 speed killer fan. I don't want to make a mistake by swapping them. The Grand Marquis rad. was only about 1" thick, and 26X18", with a separate trans cooler behind it. Do you think that would be large enough for my F-250? Sometimes I do haul, and sometimes I go into the desert.
My current radiator, left over from the 390 I had in it, is huge, 26" wide, and 24 tall, with tank above and below. It holds about 4 gallons. But during the summer when I was in traffic with my foot on the brake, the temp would keep climbing. I would rather keep my current radiator, but need space for a puller fan so I can put my trans cooler in front of the radiator.
What do you think about the Grand Marquis rad.?
Either that or a fan off a 3.8L Taurus or other Ford. They were dual speed fans that pull big cfms.
Here is the type of radiator I put in my stuff. More than most want to spend, but cheap price for what you are actually getting. Dual pass, cross flow aluminum radiators like this almost keep the thing from even reaching operating temp
