Chassis Enginering Front End?

Has anyone used or know someone that has used the bolt in mustang II front end from Chassis Engineering? Being that it is a bolt in and My welding skills are pretty much non existant do you think this would be a good option for a 52 F-1? I have someone that can weld the other types in but if I can do it myself I would prefer to. Any advise would be great.

Thanks,
Adam

This will bump you back to the top for the afternoon shift.

I have always used the weld in but I can think of no reason why not to use the bolt in. Getting to say “I did it myself” has no price.

While I don't have any personal experience with Chassis Engineering's bolt-in system ,..I have heard nothing bad about them. They offer alot for the $$ thru-out the line of products.Another option may be Jim Meyers Racing in Washington.Don't know if he makes a bolt-n for your bonus built, but I know it's available for the later model 53-56,and a very well built unit at that.
There is a bunch of info on this site for the Jag front-end..another option..and not very difficult either..always something for somebody around here.

I have the CE M11 installed on my 48 project.I have not had it on the road yet so I cannot give you any feedback there. It is really easy to install.I met a guy at a cruise-in this summer that has the CE in his F1 and he told me that installing the suspension was the best thing he has done to his truck.

C.e. Ifs

While I haven't bought the C.E, MII bolt in IFS yet, I plan to. I asked this very question some time ago and got a number of positive responses. Check this out:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/4...ii-advice.html

You'll see responses that say the MII was built for a much lighter vehicle. They fail to note that the MII offered by C.E. and others is NOT the same as the origianl MII/pinto. Those vehicles did not use tubular upper and lower control arms among other things. Doing searches on this forum will yeild the kind of information that you need to make your decision.

Good luck,
Chris

I'm using the Chassis Engineering bolt on crossmember. No problems with the install. I hope the pictures show up. I have not put the truck back together so no on the road testing.

You also need to find out if it is compatible with the engine you are going to use. Mounts? Oil pan ? Etc.

I have used a chassis engineering front end and bolted it in myself. It does feel really good when you do it yourself. It looks great to me too. It seemed to strengthen the frame quite a bit too.

Here are the pictures of my truck. Everything went well. I used the chevy mounts. The engine is a LS2.

It looks like you are using the full lower control arms as opposed to the strut rods. Can you tell us what went into that decision?

Thanks,
Chris

That what chassis engineering recommended. The person I talked to said that the strut rod type gave more support for the lower control arm. I also went with their trans mount crossmember.

Sorry I read your post wrong. I'm using the strut rod type. Sorry the pictures are so small. Still trying to figure it out. I'm also having trouble uploading pictures to my photo album. I can email you a bigger picture if you want.

That's OK. I had thought the strut rod type lower control arm was stronger as well. In some circles, they are frowned upon mainly because they say they bind. I tend to feel that if they are installed properly, that is not a problem. Thanks for the information.
