Are there any good magazines out there for the 61-66 trucks? I've had Classic Trucks comming in for a year but I want to see more about the 60's fords. The tech articals are great. Theres something refreshing about reading a magazine. Any help would be great, thanks guys.
Every once in a while, Mustangs and Fords will feature a truck but it's mostly late model Mustang stuff. They did a disc brake swap on a Ranchero a couple issues back and that's almost a truck. Also a nice feature on a '56 F100. Nothing out there that I know of dedicated to 60's Ford trucks.
The best one I've seen is new: True Blue Trucks is the magazine for F-Series Fords... all F-series... the good, bad and the ugly! I picked up the first issue and was impressed. Good articles, lots of photos and nothin' but Fords. The other two 'generic' truck magazines out there focus so heavily on Bowties and fat fender trucks there is rarely any of ours allowed on their pages. When they are included, I find the articles short and stale, with not much useful information. For pure stock or nearly-stock, Vintage Truck Magazine is probably the best. They cover everything, but there's good tech and few ads.
Not a magazine, but the best reference source I have yet found:
The Standard Catalog of Light Duty Ford Trucks 1905-2002 / krause.com / ISBN: 0-87349-411-3.
This book has it all. Year specific: VIN decoding / Accessories Lists / Historical Facts / Color Codes / Production Figures / Engine Types...yadda yadda yadda.
Never hear of True blue Mag; thanks for the insight (DV); been a loyal reader of classic trucks for years; will agree its mostly bowtie focus. But there's alot of old henry rides in there as well.
