The sort order

Hey,
I like the idea of being able to sort the order of the pictures in my gallery, but I can't seem to get it to work. I give them all a number and I click sort but nothing happens. I tried clicking update album as well, but no luck there either. Does anyone no how to make this new feature work?

Give it a try now. You didn't number all of them and left a bunch set as "1" so it displays them first. I've added a tweak to number them automatically if they aren't numbered by you.

The sort order

Here are the directions.

Go to your gallery.
Have a look at the photos you have in it.
Under each photo there is a little window box with a number one in it.
Which ever ORDER you want them in > Then type in the number to appear from the top >
With number 1 photo Being the MAIN photo on the user gallery.


If you have 12 photos in a gallery You pick>
This one is 1
this one is 12
this one is 4
this one is 6

until you have ALL 12 NUMBERED

Now you click "SET SORT ORDER" and you're done.

Okay,
I went and renumbered everything and hit sort order and nothing happened. It clicked once and that was it. I went back over and made them all 0's and then I started again to make sure I gave them all a different number, still nothing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I followed the steps you all gave and it still didn't work. Can you check and see if it works on mine when you guys do it, maybe my sort button doesn't work, I don't know. On another note though I did have an idea on how to make it better if you care to listen. Is there anyway to have the pictures in the gallery to be thumbnails like in a row of 5 or 10. Just for the reason of viewing them and putting them in order. I have like 50 pictures now and it is difficult to view them in one long straight line to put them in order. For exapmple: Have the pics in this order (X being a pic)

X X X X X X
X X X X X X
X X X X X X
X X X X X X

instead of:

X
X
X
X
X
X
X

Kind of like it is when someone else views your gallery through the normal way instead of Manage/Create?

K, that's my little 2 cents worth. If you could though and look to see why my sort option is working for me. Thanks guys... Ken

Hey Ry, don't feel alone. I'm having the same problem. It's like the sort button is not functioning. Now I'm stuck with the first pic that I can't change the order. Will let you know if I discover anything.

I just logged in as you, went into your first gallery, swapped 1 and two and then reswapped them. Seemed to work okay for me.

50 pictures? Why not create additional albums and put about 10 in each?

LOL,
I know 50 pictures is a lot, but I kind of like to have all my pics in one gallery for the ease of viewing. I just don't want to have to manage 5 other galleries with photos from the same truck.
Maybe I'm not doing it right then, but I still cannot change the sort order of any of them. I just changed the first pic to 52 and the last pic to 1 and hit sort.... nothing happened. I usually can figure this stuff out but am having a heck of a time with this option. Is there something else that I'm missing, something I'm not doing? Thanks for the help guys, and sorry about the trouble. I'm not trying to be a pain... for Payne..lol, j/k. Thanks Ken.

I just tried your user id, swapped 1 and 52 and it worked. What web browser are you using?

I'm using internet Explorer 6. The only thing that happens when I hit sort is a small faint click. My browser doesn't think or anything. I don't know what it could be then.

Okay Ken, here's a weird one for ya. I used my avatar gallery and put 2 pics in it. I switched the numbers on the two and it worked. The sort button did what it was supposed to do. After that I went right back to the other gallery and tried that one again, and nothing. It still doesn't do anything but click. Do you think maybe deleting that feature and putting it back into that gallery would do anything? I don't know, I wish I did though. I don't mean to be a bother.

Oh yeah, I did like the way you changed the format, it helps a lot. Kudos on doing it so quickly. You are the man..

Ken, I still can't sort the first gallery. Interesting, I can sort my other galleries, it's just the first one that does not respond. What could be up with that? If you go in there, could you just swap the first and last pics for me, i.e. make the last pic #1?

Try now, I suspect it might be IE's cache-control causing it. Hopefully I've by-passed it.

Goodmorning,
I'm sorry about this, but it still doesn't sort. I tried everything I could think of on my end. I disabled my Personal Firewall, went into IE and took the cookie blocker all the way off, refreshed the screen a couple times, but I got nothing. I don't know why the other gallery works but my main one wont. Could it be that there are too many pics for that button to function. Is there a set limit on how many it can sort. I don't know, but thanks again for trying to get to the bottom of it.

I even tried from another computer here at work that has never logged onto this site. We use IE ver. 5.5 w/ SP2. Sorry for the hassle.
