Does anyone know the oil sump capacity for a 1988 7.3.

Ten quarts with the standard filter, eleven if you use the powerstroke filter.

Best to run the engine 1 qt low at all times to eliminate any high usage of oil. If you keep it full you may end up saying its burning oil......

I have yet to figure mine out though. I always put exactly three gallons in mine and it doesn't start using it until I start putting more miles on it after its due for service

"I know shame on me but with low wage job its hard to keep it serviced on time like I would like".

Never had a problem with consumption until it reaches 5,000 miles from fresh oil change.
