Hello,
I don't get on this site much but know I can get help here.
I have a 1992 F-150 with the 4.9 six with 240,000 miles. Last thursday nite we got alot of rain. And the truck is outside. It starts fine and runs normaly, then it starts acting like it is missing after about three or four minutes of driving. On sunday I changed the rotor and cap thinking the cap may be cracked, but no change. I also hear a pinging or backfire from the motor.
Please give me any ideas that you think it could be. This is my daily driver and work truck being I am a carpenter.
Thanks for the reply, Also when the truck sits for 20 minutes or so it will run normal for a little while. And when it starts running rough I can smell unburnt gas. I am going to try to get the codes read today.
John
I kinda had the same problem was the park plug wires-but mine ran like crap till it dried out?
the coil wire was making a bad connection on the coil and to the cap figured it might help to drop that info in?
