94 here today. 97 predicted highs for the next 2-3 days. Dew point 75.(Really humid)
Low for last night 81, not much cooler next few days either.
If we get lucky, I might be able switch from AC to heat for at least 1 month of the year.
I love the snow. It's so cool because it keeps the worst of the idiots off the road. All that's left is people who know how to drive in the snow, and people in ditches.
We woke up to two inches of new snow. Temps were in the low thirties throughout the day, so even though it was snowing there was not much accumulation. Since the sun went down the temp has dropped again so I shut off my outside water and drained the sprinklers.
Guess that's going to be the end of most of the flowers.
I saw a lot of cars that looked like they had six or eight inches of snow on them, so we got off light in my area.
Hey Bruce...brings to mind my 1st winter ('83) in Truckee. Being a midwest flatlander, had no clue how fast a snow dump could occur at 7700 feet. The ex woke me up one morning in early November that the power was out so I get up and head to the back door (elec service was outside) and opened the door to a wall of snow. Not an ounce of daylight. Had to dig out and up since the drift covering the back of the house was without exaggeration, 12 -14 feet high. Rough winter, food was dropped from helicopter to the general store once since 80 and 50 were, for a time, impassable. Looks like an early and long winter here in Chicago, we're already down in the low 30s at night.
Yeah Ed, it can get much worse up there than my area. I'm at the southeast portion of the Lake. We call it the "banana belt" because we get so much less snow here. It's a micro climate. Truckee/Donner gets an immense amount compared to us. When we have two inches it's not uncommon for them to have two feet.
I would think that most people in your area would have learned!
True, the local population has a clue, but BYU Idaho's students basically double the population for the winter. Most of these kids don't have the life skills to look both ways before crossing the street.
We got about 4 inches in town and less in a lot of areas out of town. Southern Mt had a heck of a storm, dumping up to 40 inches in some higher elevations.
The weather's cold, the trees are still mostly green. Gonna be interesting if we get more snow. I'll have to clean leaves up twice next year. Once in the spring, then again in the Fall.. providing Fall works quicker next year..
