setting up my 3x2...
i just rebuilt my 292 as some of you already know. i broke it in with the trusty stock intake manifold and carb, now its time to finish the 3x2.
i have an edelbrock 573 and 3 ECGs. the carbs look good but im gonna rebuild em anyway.
i had a long conversation with Charlie Price from Vintage Speed and he recommended a complete kit he sells that comes with the rebuild kits, progressive linkage, block offs and 2 new machined aluminum bases for the front and rear. Sounds great but its almost $400 and i dont have that right now and im gettin antsy! do u guys know of a cheaper way to go? a better way? how about straight linkage? thanks.

I also have a '59 F100 with a fresh 292. I have an Edelbrock 553 with ECG's. Unfortunately I am not going to be of any help to you at this point as my motor is still on the stand. If things were to go just right, and they rarely do, the truck would be running in the next year, but I got the bright idea to take the body off the frame, so I have a ways to go. I have a friend who made a straight linkage for his '57 fairlane back in the day. He said it was fine for straight out performance, but not good for gas mileage. I purchased the progressive linkage. I have seen some people who don't even hook up the front and rear carbs, but what's the point of that? Just looks I guess. Good luck and I hope somebody with some actual knowledge will reply to this.

I would say, take everything apart and buy just the parts that needs to be replaced. Maybe some oversize trotlle shafts, 2 power valve blockplugs and a progressive linkage. Thats all you need to start with and make it run.
From there you can go as grazy you want to.
Look at page 4 on my website.
It was very very very much work and expensive chrome, but for me it's worth it
