Helppppp meeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay so i have an 86 f150 5.0L v8... we switched out that original 86 motor for a 1990 5.0L... now the wire harness is a complete pain in the ***... so i bought another 1986 5.0L and im taking the harness from the engine off of it and putting it on the 1990 5.0... will this work?

****ing confusing i know.

As long as your going speed density to speed density system, the harness for the 86 truck 5.0 will run a 90 truck 5.0 with very minor mods. You'll also need the EGR control soleniod from the 90 with the pig tail. On the 90 its located with the coil bracket where the air filter is on your 86. You can mount the EGR control solenoid using small angle brackets where your existing solenoid mounts on the passenger side inner fender liner. Your existing solenoid has two connectors. You'll need to splice the green wire from one connector and the red wire from the other connector to the pigtail from the 90.

If you're going to a Mass Air setup with an engine/computer from a Mustang, it's much more complicated. I have a spreadsheet that documents each of the 28 wiring changes you need to make.

Thanks man Ive been dying for some help with this I appreciate it. But just so were clear, this 86 harness going on the truck is going on to the 90' engine in the 86' truck. just making sure incase you thought i was putting a 86 harness in a complete 90' truck.

I love you. I have tried taking the 90 harness and matching the wires with the harness for the 86 from the firewall and it actually started and died, started and died, then the wires melted somewhere so i thought i was ****ed. so i bought another 86 and i sure hope this works thank you sir!

So can you convert a regular truck 302 to mass air by changing the computer and the 28 wiring changes mentioned or what else has to be changed? What year computers can we use for that?
I have a mustang intake (upper and lower) and was going to use a mustang tb and convert to mass air if possible

28 wiring changes, 2 Heated O2 sensors, change the EGR control solenoid, add a vehicle speed sensor, and a MAF sensor....it wasn't much tougher than that. I changed to a 95 302 HO and used an 88-93 A9P computer. I made the mods to my existing 86 wiring harness....took a while to plan it out, but only about 5 hours to splice and solder the wiring. Almost all the other senors are the same. Even the MAP sensor becomes the barometric pressure sensor simply by disconnecting the vacuum line.

It seems counter-intuitive, but you might want to consider using the truck intake....the runners are much larger than even the Cobra intake. The truck intake moves more than enough air. If you use the truck intake, you could probably do the whole job in about a day and a half. That's how I did it....made the job much easier, and it screams.

A 90 302 is not a mass air truck it is still a speed density. They changed over to mass air in 93

You can convert the earlier trucks. You just need to plan it out and map the injector wiring to match your firing order if you have the non-HO engine.

Yes you can convert them however they are not mass air to begin with and that is something that needs to be kept in the back of your mind. While it is a simple change relatively speaking it is not what came in these trucks such as the 90 that was previously stated.

I thought we had addressed both Speed Density and Mass Air earlier...the 86-90 speed density swap is really easy...
