My father called asking how to fix a new issue. He pulled into Lowe's and the horn started blaring when he turned in.
It is an '87 350 with no airbag. Is this a column bearing/bushing issue or wiring issue?

First thing to do is pull the padded cover off the steering wheel. There are two screws on the dash side of the spokes and the cover lifts off with the horn and cruise wires attached. Have a look there for broken/touching wires.
If everything good there then pull the steering wheel and have a look at the contacts there.
Going on memory so that`s all I can think of.

Reason: typo
Can someone tell me which of the contacts are which when you pull the wheel? On my turn signal switch at the 1 or 2 o'clock position, there are two contact sticking straight out at the driver. This truck has cruise control, so is that what they are? They appear to be very worn and I'd like to replace them if it helps fix the cruise.
BTW, My father's truck has tilt...
He trouble shot it as I directed, trying to find play that beeps the horn but he said none happened. It only intermittently beeps as he steers the wheel.

honestly all the horn is, is an open circut wire that is closed by pushing the horn. You are jupming power to the horn somehow... I would just run 2 new wires out to the horn and then connect them under the steering wheel pad. You probably have a wire that has shorted itself with another in the column. I have had similar problems and just spend a hour re running new wires. I know thats kind of a jalopy way to fix it but it works and if you tuck the wires in it will look just fine.
