Ford is currently offering a cash back incentive of $1,000 on the '03 Expedition. I went to my local dealer to inquire about a lease and I was told that the $1,000 cash back does not apply to a lease. Is that correct??
You can lease it from someone else. Like your credit union. Negotiate your best price including the rebate and they can buy it to lease for you. I don't know what Ford's leasing deal is, but if someone else can get the vehicle for a grand less, you may get a better deal there.
(I lease this way, though unfortunately I did it in June before the $1,000 was available.)
The $1,000 is for anyone. If you go to Fords website www.fordvehicles.com and click on incentives you will find it listed there. What isn't clear is can the rebate be applied to a lease.
It sounds like your dealer is wanting to keep this money for himself.
USUALLY, when there's a rebate offered, it's good for both purchase and lease. I also know that Ford is offering a loyalty bonus that can be as much as $1500 depending on the vehicle. I got a $1000 bonus for buying a Focus and they were going to give me $1500 for buying a Windstar. This only applies if you are turning in or trading a Ford product.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Oct-02 AT 04:23 PM (EST)]checked with two other dealers who confirmed that the $1,000 is only for purchases not for leases. Seems to me that they move a vehicle either way so why not offer the cash back on a lease as well?
