And The Mutilations Just Keep Getting Worse
Hey 59flatbedford
That's a really cool truck too. I guess its a 36? I get those years mixed up and I'm just looking at the grill shell-- it looks like it was sectioned.
I didn't mean to imply that the other truck was "your favorite" or anything.
This one "looks" to have a Buick motor? And that's what the reddish patina truck from Texas pictured early has too. I too would like to build something like this, but I doubt it will happen. It's not impossible, but I've got a bunch of unfinished projects as is and I may run out of "youth" before I get them done. Plus I think to do a really good job with something this modified would take a lot of experience. I don't know if I have enough.
But I hope you get a chance.

Ya the dulleys. I just saw some of those for the first time in the Dec 2009 Rod and Custom. Thay had a "name" for it they called'em "rig rods".
And they are like Rat Rods but they have big rig rear duallies and front single large big rig wheels. Boy they're different. I'll be surprised if it catches on.
"junk yard dog"? u called it right

Rig Rods
Hi all
Here's that "rig rod" I was mentioning earlier. Its in Rod & Custom Dec2009 and they describe as "....which use the wheels, brakes, and usually the axles from full-size trucks, but we're not sure." They only
talk about this one truck and they're ....not sure about the concept either.
But its an idea that could be used in this or other ways. I just thought it was interesting. I don't imagine its gonna "catch on". I'm guessing this is a 46? or so Ford. I'm looking at the cab and hood lines and guessing that year. Just a guess? You might know better.
Good luck Tom

So 54 posts (not all negative) and counting with over 1000 views, I think this might not have been the reaction that one would have anticipated and an indication of the interest in “Rats” (for whatever reason) even among the diehard inmates here. Curious isn’t?
Not really, we have a large number of darksiders here that have a lot of extra parts they've accumulated over the years curious as to what they might do with them, and some "rat rods" aren't just rolling piles of junk looking for a crusher.
IMHO the "big rig" variant is an indication of a fad that is losing momentum due to overexposure.
