Another find, any good?

I've been searching for my first truck for quite awhile. My dad had a 97 with a 4.6, know the truck itself had a few little problems. How is the 4.2 from this year? Also any other problems possible, I know the trans. on them weren't too great. Any input, thanks!!!

The first few years had some coolant problems. Also according to carfax that truck was only driven 7K miles in the last 7 years. Could be a good thing or it may have sat too long and rotted. It has also been for sale since at least July. Around here that is way too high for a 2wd but maybe in FL they are worth more.

If you could post it's whole carfax that would be good... I noticed the tires on it look ancient and had a hint it might have been sitting.

That price is absurdly high, especially considering the grenade-I-mean-engine.

The powers that be have an aneurysm if others post carfaxes or even advertise to do them for others. About all I can add is that it was a fleet truck until '02 and 60 some thousand miles.

I had a 97 with the 4.2 LWB. It never gave me any problems..as a matter of fact it worked flawlessly, and did more than it was EVER designed to do.
Now with that being said, while the truck your looking at is a good looking ride,it is NOT a powerhouse, and mileage will suffer big time when running the A/C.The miles showing are very reasonable...but scary.I am of the opinion it has indeed been sitting for quite some time. The price is WAY out of reality for that year model. My old 97 went for 1800.00 trade. the trade value is of course going to be low considering its age,and miles showing...168,000 miles.
I now have an 07 with the same engine/tranny,and love it. Unless this guy is willing to come down on price big time,I personally would find a later version with the small v-8.Youll actually get better economy, and the inherant problems of this era v-6 wont be a factor.my .02
