my 06' explorer leaks water into the left tail light and through the window hatch and tailgate hatch whenever i get a car wash or it rains.the weather stripping looks fine,is there a better seal or different kind i need to fix this?
Is there anything keeping the latches from closing fully? Does it look like the door and rear window are flush with the frames? Your seals should be new enough not to be leaking yet.
I've had good luck with sealing an older door by cleaning the rubber seals, then applying a thick silicone lubricant to the rubber. Only drawback is that it tends to collect dust.
everything is flush and how it should be.its almost as if the seal is not thick enough, like the wrong one was installed.i thought about putting silicone on it but it just seems like a correct seal should be available to replace it.
The left tail light isn't part of the sealing scheme. Water can run down inside the hatch and still be outside the seal. So that is a separate problem there.
