Water Leak at Rear Hatch

Water Leak at Rear Hatch
Is anyone else experience a water leak at the rear hatch. The water is coming in from the door, not the glass. I have wiped the weatherstrip clean, in case some debris was stopping it from achieving a complete seal. It is also happening on both sides.
Thanks in advance

I have a 2011 Escape that has a small leak in the rear hatch whenever I run it through the "no-touch' car wash. Like you, I looked and cleaned but can't find the cause.
I'm thinking the weather seal just isn't sturdy enough against the high pressure washer as it sprays over the hatch. I don't see any puddles or rust formation so I'm not too concerned. Let us know if you eventually find something we should be concerned about.

Inherent design defect, look at the rubber seal-to-glass point.
We have a glass which is almost vertical, we have a rubber gasket pushing against this smooth surface, which also creates a "valley" on top when the glass is closed, Now I have been having a leak and this is with a new dealer installed seal.
I have observed as long as the Escape is not moving, parked, off, I can spray water on it all day long, no leak.
But driving in the rain, the rubber and glass move on each other, with water on the top of the seal filling the little valley, the water actually "wiggles" in between the seal and the glass and Ta-da! it leaks.
2 way to solve this, an adhesive sealant between the seal and glass, (glass never to open again), or
Design some sort of flashing to roll water from the roof and onto the glass WITHOUT touching the rubber seal.
Any suggestions?
I noticed on newer SUV's there is a huge overhang covering the top of the glass, Hmmmm, water can't get to the seal-glass contact?
