last year was awesome, one weekend my wife and me caught over 100 bass, one of them had a mouth about 7 inches in diameter. kinda slow this year due to no rain and not enough fresh water flowing in to the lake, our best day was 30 or 40 fish.
I love to fish. It's one of the best parts about living in Montana. I troll with my boat in the summer on the lakes as well as fly fish the rivers and streams. I even ice fish in the winter. My favorite fish to catch is kokanee salmon although walleye comes in a close second. Anyway, great thread. (rainbow trout is good too)

I've fly fished the Madison, Gallatin, Firehole, Yellowstone, and others that I don't remember their names.
I will be Fishing for trout somewhere in Ca. around the last week of this month.....still havent decided exactly where, its a buddy and my nearly annual trout trip.....in past years, weve gone to Eagle and Almanor lakes,or up to the vicinity of Bridgeport......

Bob, dont mess with those minnows down there!, come up here, the biggest rainbow we caught this year was 27 1/2" 8 3/4 lbs.......one trip, the smallest trout in the boat was 17"............For a "small" fee I can arrange a guided trip!

I think just across he road from Lake Almanor is Butt Valley Reservoir.
Great camp grounds, some right on the lakes edge.
I lost; I'm guessing a 5-7 pound trout, in that reservoir, fishing off of the spit.
At the time I was fly casting a zug bug on a two pound test tippet.
I gave him a battle, for about thirty seconds. I never had a chance.
Did they either close a Fishery that you were involved in,or determine a species was threatened and restrict your access to a water source?
And don't forget they have to save the canned sardines from extinction,
which invariably will decimate the California Central Valley farmland,
that feeds most of the country.
Well, since you asked, thanks to the NMFS I'm no longer wealthy.

Bob, well sounds to me like he had to pay a rather stiff fine for not adhering to the rule book! I don't really know. 'Course we can say all kind of nasty rumors about Herman because he just left us to guess!
I know several Charter Boat operators locally who made there living primarily from Salmon fishing, and who have just gone through there second year without an ocean salmon season......So,they have certainly lost money, without so much as a single fine.
Admittedly in this instance,NMFS and other agencies had to close the fishery, there were simply too few salmon returning to the rivers. Hopefully we get a wet winter, and a decent return of fish this winter.....
