Can anyone tell when Ford changed the Dana 44 in the F250 4x4 from a passenger side drop to a driver side drop? I am sure that the 75 highboy I had was a passenger side drop but my 77.5 is a driver side drop. Was it in the 77.5 model year and later went to the driver side drop? Also it is my understanding that Ford never put in a Dana 60 in the 4x4 (front axle) in tell the 78/79 model year F250? Thanks

 

nope...they had the low pinion dana 60, I had one in my 74 crew cab w/ drum brakes and I have one in my 77 crew cab that is a low pinion dana 60 w/ disc brakes and I have 2 78 and 79's w/ the high pinion dana 60's..all are d/s drop

 

My 1975 F250 4WD Highboy has a Dana 44 low pinion Drivers side drop

 

maybe because mine is a crew cab, is why it came that way or someone ordered it like that....

 

ALL fords had a driver side drop, my 78 has a high pinion dana 44 drivers side drop.

 

There is no pass side drop.
