Hi everyone. I have a 1990 E250 and the heat does not blow. I have only had the van a year and it somewhat worked when I got it, but at the end of least winter It stopped blowing. It does not matter what setting I have it on low or high. if I turn the defrost on and put my hand on the dash I can feel warm air but it does not blow. It is the same for the vent, I can feel warm air coming out but does not blow. Sometimes if I hit a bump it seems like it will blow a bit harder but not like it should.
My question is, should I just replace the blower motor, or is there something else I should check first?
I had the same issue on my F250, here is what I did
Replace the Blower Motor Resister - Not the issue
Replace the Fan Switch - Not the issue
Replace the Blower Motor - Not the issue
Good thing I worked at a parts wholesale house a the time...
The issue on my truck was the evaporator coil was so plugged with dirt and grime it would not let the air even pass throught the coil.
I think that my case was an odd one. Try jumping power to the blower motor first, The evaporator coil should be in the same area (if you have ac)
If you the motor works, cross that one off the list.
I'm not sure how to check the blower motor resister or the switch but its not uncommon for either one of those to go out.
okay, I removed the blower motor and jumped it and it works just fine. I went to replace the resistor and the only one they had at all the auto parts stores is for the van with a/c. Mine does not. The resistor looks the same, I mean dead on. I went ahead and got that and put it in but still nothing. Is there any way the test the switch?
