so i went to the yard today to grabe a new rear window and vent window for my 96 f150. found two trucks that definatly should not have been there a 97 f250 nice truck some every thing looked in good order on it till i saw the back window that said c4c. another was a 95 f150 step side in perect condtion thinkin bout goin back and getting the bed not a crack scratch or chip on it any were. the yards are fillin up around here with them. dont like t see our trucks go this way but it makes getting expensive parts a little easier.
I can't believe how many of these trucks were junked that were in nice shape. Did you guys know that something like 20-30 1st gen Lightnings got junked too?
I don't want to get started on this again, but this damn program pisses me off. It was one of the worst ideas I have ever heard of. I agree with what was said before about the repos. I bet most of the people that used this program can't really afford a new car payment regardless of it being slightly less.

Lightnings? Are these people out of their minds? Do they even have a mind to be out of? I'd love to have a Lightning.
I would love to have a Lightning too. Its such a shame. At least the Lightning guys will have some parts.
There were also some Typhoon and Cyclone trucks that got junked.
Haven'y been keeping up for a long time. What's a Typhoon? The only Cyclone I know is what Mercury used to call their version of a Torino ( some of those were some kick *ss machines ).
Sorry, The Cyclone and Typhoon are based off of the S10 and S10 Blazer. They were turbo charged and all wheel drive. They were little muscle trucks. They are really fast and rare. Here is a link. If you scroll down, you'll see what one looks like. The Official Home of ISTA
I was at the local Ford dealer an see a 95-96-97 f350 mason dump. Looked in very good condition. I laid under neith it to see what engine was in it...........
I came out laughing..... There was no engine. Someone beat CASh For Clunkers at their own game!!

I'd offer a very lowball bid for the complete bed with hardware/pump/controls (and the whole rear half of the truck if I could get it) and sell it for a profit or make an interesting trailer. They don't take long to pull.
I don't share the boohoo about smashing old trucks because that is exactly what happens to most of them anyway. Kill some of them young so I can get tasty parts cheap.

Just curious, how did *****rolet get away with that? Thought model names ( Mustang, Falcon, Comet, Cyclone, etc. ) were only allowed to be used by the company that originally brought it on the market.
Was outta town for the weekend, but when I was there, I saw a Suweet Chevy Silverado on a junker's lot. This thing was nice. CFC...God forbid he defaults on the loan, and has his 'new' toy taken away, and he has to see that 'Rado' being raped. I personally wouldn't have fallen for that scheme...

Ford probably abanodoned "Cyclone" the way they did "Futura". But it matters not, because the hair-dryered Jimmys are "Syclone"s, not "Cyclone".
As for c4c, what moron isn't going to take $4500 for a truck that no one would buy for more than $500 and that needed $600 for AC and $500 for trans work....???
BTW, they won't be repoing my new truck, as I'll be paying off the $200 balance the next time they send me a statement. I planned ahead before I bought you see....

C4C was basically used to get the gas guzzlers of the road. And I'm sure many who had 'clunkers' took the bait. But why in hell would anyone who had a classic (And I mean a real nice Ford,) part with it for a wallet buster in these times? No Thank You Mr. Govt. I will continue to drive my truck, that was paid for by me, maintained by me, insured by me, and will never give it up no matter what carrotstick you present me.
And for those who discarded their classics for a mortgage, I will be on the hunt to make my dream come true.
OK I do have to chime in on the C4C's that went out here in Iowa... I did see the trade in lots with teh C4C on the windows... Most of the trucks here were about to need to be laid to rest. I can't say that i am exactly shocked that Ford had 5 of the top 10 traded in cars and trucks. Most people aren't going to do their own truck work any longer and would rather pay the shop $500 for an ASE mech instead of doing it yourself for $100... I do have to say that there were a few C4C's that I would not have traded in myself... I have a 88 F-250 custom and it will be easier to get the parts for my truck now... Also I did notice that there were a few trade in's that didn't seem quite right. In fact I know a gentle man that traded in to give his wife a new Toyota Carolla to drive the kids around with. He had a project truck with a spare parts truck (the spare was his daily driver and the project was nearing completion). He limped the parts truck (daily driver - oh it was in horrid shape!) in and knew where the dealership went with their C4C's. Within a week he spent $500 getting every thing he needed off his old truck... Now his wife has a safe car (-$4500 thanks uncle sam) and he doesn't have the parts truck laying around but does have all the parts he needed! So he basicaly got a few $4000 credit from the gov't. You wouldn't believe the hillbilly looking trucks I saw out there when C4C was going on!
buddy of mine works at a chevy dealer. Said some guy brought in a 25th anniversary trans am for the cfc program. Buddy said he wouldve readily given 6500 for the car but it was too late. The guy mustve really wanted that cobalt!
