E3 Spark Plugs

Anybody use these. I dont normally fall for gimics, but they had these on Hotrod TV this weekend and they showed an improvement in emmissions, gas milage and also raised HP/TQ numbers. Anybody use these. I am thinking of putting them in the Bullitt and my 97 F250 4x4

How did they base these improvement numbers? Was it based on the comparision of the old plug and wire set just before tune up and then after tune up set up?

The E3 is basically an application of an old hotrodder trick of trimming the ground strap electrode at an angle. This in effect made the spark 'face' the chamber more effectively, and it would increase high end output somewhat. The somewhat depended on changes to the motor to take advantage of the 'faster' ignition/flame front. The flame front didnt go sideways first, it would be oriented to go downward in the chamber.

For the cost of such an item I think a good tune up with the right items and tools will yeild nearly the same results. Most of the gains in horsepower are so small that equipment used to measure the output may miss it. 5 horsepower can be statistically accounted for on any dyno, meaning a 190hp on a dyno would mean the output is actually anywhere between 185 to 195. If it was 10 to 20 hp gain then go for it, but 5 hp can be had in any good engine tune up.

There a gimmic and will all around suck. This totally ruined Hotrod TVs rep for me they must have been paid alot to do those shows. Anyone that knows enough would know there claims are BS. They claimed that these plugs create more HP and less emisions, this is impossible. They claimed the plugs made less NOx and less CO2, those are exactly the byproducts of power. NOx is created by the heat in the cylinder so there claiming there's less heat and less heat = less HP. CO2 is the byproduct of complete combustion, so there claiming less complete combustion which means less HP and less MPG.

Even without these bogus claims it's plain to see that the HUGE negative electrode shrouds the spark/flame front creating a less effecient combustion. You can do alot better with cheap plugs, a file and some indexing.

FWIW Measuring CO2 says nothing about power and efficency, notice they didn't mention HC or CO those are bad, and less is always better. But if you put in the same amout of air and fuel and get out less CO2 as they did in the "test" the only way to do that is to put out more HC and CO, bad just bad.

Ive always been told to use autolite or motorcraft for ford and AC delco for chevy. Been told the expensive stuff doesnt last as long as the cheaper ones. Friend had accel plugs in his camaro and he had to change them every 6 months and we just put some AC delcos in it and they lasted a year and a half.

The Devil is ALIVE!!!!!!!!!! Hell to the no dont buy E3's we bought a set for my wife's car because i thought it would do what it claimed. all it done was pissed my wife's 1998 Malibu ls OFF. As a matter of fact the car didnt get as good of gas mileage as it did with the ACDELCO Rapid Fires. Stay with what is meant for your automobile ford=motorcraft, Chevy acdelco.

Overpriced, gimmicky junk. Save your money, and integrity.
I run NGK in ALL of my vehicles(any plug that can stand up to a 150shot on an overly rich tunning has my vote).
If I cant get NGK, I go with Autolite.

All those kind of plugs are junk. Stick with Motorcraft or Autolite spark plugs.
