Hi Brian:

Today on my way into work, I saw an 18-wheeler parked on the Sherwood island northbound entrance ramp to I95.

The flatbed appeared to have a load of axles with wheels mounted to them for standard rolling stock.

Is that how the wheels are shipped, pre-attached to their axle?

yes Dave. that is considered a wheelset. and the wheels are installed by dropping the railcar on top of them.
