has anyone replaced their inner front axle bearings on there 2001 f250 4x4. i grabbed my universal and can move it up and down alot in the axle tube and i now also have gear oil leaking out of the axle tube. followed by a horrible growling noise. and i just replaced the hub assemblies so i know its not those doing it. if anyone has done this how long does it usually take and do the axles just pull out on these or do you have to remove the cover pull the pin and clips like on a regular rear. thanks in advance for the help

I'm not sure what you mean by "inner front axle bearings" and "hub assemblies". Did you replace the auto/manual locking hubs or the bearing hubs? The bearing hubs have 4 large bolts holding them in place and you'd need a decent-sized puller to get it out if it hasn't been done before. There's no c-clip holding the axle in place - you just pry it out and it pops out. You'll need to replace the seals once you do that.
There are a few excellent how-to instructions here (look at RacerGuy) and Guzzle's instructions for tools, parts, and tips. Cannot beat these instructions.
I've never done the work before, it took me 2days to take apart the passenger side, 8hours to put together. It took 6hours to take apart the driver's side after lessons learned and about the same to clean and put back. I did my ball-joints too so that burned up a lot of time.
Take your time in researching parts and tools needed well-before you start otherwise you'll end up without use of vehicle if you don't have some of the odd-ball socket sizes and pieces. Good luck.
